Swedish Contractors’ Ultimate Test: Our Mini Excavators & Compact Skid-Steers Excel in Simulated Arctic Conditions

Specializing in Nordic infrastructure projects, a Swedish contractor arrived with what they called “real-world testing requirements.” Instead of standard demonstrations, they requested we simulate -20°C conditions and muddy terrain matching Scandinavian spring thaws.

We prepared a special test area replicating Arctic work conditions. Our engineers demonstrated the cold-start reliability of both the mini excavators and compact skid-steer loaders, using Arctic-grade fluids and pre-heating systems. The Swedish team operated the equipment themselves, testing hydraulic responsiveness in freezing temperatures and evaluating cabin heating efficiency.

The compact skid-steer loader’s performance in deep mud particularly impressed them, with its optimized weight distribution preventing sinkage. Meanwhile, the mini excavator’s precision in simulated frozen ground excavation met their exacting standards for pipeline and foundation work in Northern Europe.

Post-testing negotiations focused on technical adaptations for the Swedish market. We agreed to incorporate specific safety markings in Swedish, reinforce certain components for extreme cold durability, and modify emission controls for biofuels compatibility.

The outcome: A two-year supply agreement for 30+ units annually, beginning with 12 mini excavators and 10 compact skid-steer loaders for their upcoming projects in Norway and Sweden. They’ve also become our official testing partner for developing future cold-climate adaptations.
